As usual, the hoods were engaged in conversation with themselves but only glanced at me. The woman looked straight at me, and I could tell I was being measured by those experienced eyes, in ways I knew not of... This time I didn't divert my gaze, sustaining her stare right until the point when she raise her left, black satin hand, and motioned me to approach her table.
I hesitated for a moment, but ended up complying and soon found myself siting across the round table from her.
"Can I get you something to drink?"
The bar woman had snuck behind me unnoticed.
"Uh... no. Not yet. I still haven't made up my mind."
She nodded while moving away from the table.
"You could've just asked for water..." I turned around on the bench, facing my new-found companion. "... she might be gone for quite a while. And you might get thirsty in the meantime."
"Thanks for the advice, but I think I can wait until her return."
She smiled, ever so slightly... and slowly, smoke started leaving her lips, in streams, as if incense was burning inside her mouth. It climbed up her rosy cheeks and sculpted nose, creating a wide curtain in front of those green almond-shaped eyes.
As I admired her beauty, I realised she seemed younger than she was before, almost as if she had gotten younger. And the one thing that seemed to indicate it was her hair. Earlier it was mainly white and gray, with few shades of black. But now the white seemed to be gone, and her hair was mainly black, with a few streaks of gray.
The comment about her looks, relating to her apparent age, dwelled on my mind, and almost made it past my mouth. But fortunately I realised it would have been rude to speak about such things to a woman, let alone one I had barely talked to.
However, she seemed to be aware of my predicament and curiosity as she innocently began to stretch a few muscles, straightening her back and bringing her bosom into focus.
