"Indeed, I could have dispensed all that commotion."
I opened my eyes, and saw nothing but white. Fog had filled up the bathroom and I could hear two distinct voices arguing with each other. One of them was a deep, male voice, the other one was female and high-pitched. Both of them talked slowly and calmly, reminding me of an educated conversation between scholars.
"Did you notice that? He considers us to be highly intelligent.""Dear me, I think I am blushing."
"Try not to blush too much, modesty does not become you."
"Are you judging me sir?"
"As a matter of fact I am not. I am simply aware of traits, yours and mine."
"As am I. So I assume you were jesting before."
"Perceptive as always madam."
"Flattery will get you nowhere, as you well know."
"Indeed I do, but I do not offer compliment..."
"... merely a statement of facts."
Both of them laughed out loud.
"I do love our conversations."
"As do I my friend... as do I... but it seems as though we are boring him."
"Why, I think you are right. He does seem bored."
"And tired... poor little soul, he still has much to process."
"But it was a good thing that he used the bathroom before entering the bar, otherwise he might have even more things to process... like his pants."
"Stop that! Honestly sir, sometimes you can become quite rude.""I was only stating the obvious..."
"... as you often do. I know, I know."
"And now you sound bored as well. I think I shall take my leave."
"You can stop acting, no one is buying into your hurt feelings, especially me."
"Very well... but we really should leave."
"I am aware..."
"Do not worry milady, we shall interact with him soon enough."
"You are quite right! Let us depart then."
The fog became silent and thicker, until all light vanished, and darkness took me in.
