I stared at the horizon, pondering whether it was a good idea to just dive in and loose myself among the waves. That idea lingered on my head for a moment, right until the point when I dropped my backup out of the water's reach and took off my shirt and pants. Unusually, embarrassment did not overcome me as I re-entered the water nearly naked. Slowly but steadily, I put one foot in front of the other, walking in a straight line... held my breath for a moment and closed my eyes.
When I open them, I see sunlight piercing the surface, different shades of green, blue and yellow dance around me. The sounds are muffled, but I can still hear a seagull passing overhead.
My peace lasts for about one minute, before the urge to breathe becomes unbearable and I breach the surface, gasping for air.
Water ran through my face, and for a moment, I had the the feeling of looking through a waterfall, a curtain of water blurring everything in my sight. And that's when I see them standing in the sand, four figures side by side.
My hands rise and wipe the excess water off my face and head, but by the time I regain focus there was no longer anyone there.
I keep swimming, keeping my head out of the water, and as I approach the sand, I start to get worried. Worried that I'm in fact loosing my mind.
I leave the water, walking, and then crawling on the moist sand. Hands bury themselves and the waves keep hitting my feet. I don't want to leave. And then realise that if I want I don't have to. I could just stay there, at the beach.
"It's not your place to stay here."
I raised my head slightly and faced the dark blue cloak. Pilgrim's cloak. It was clean. No sand or wet spots were visible.
"No, I did not read your mind. There was no need."
I pushed back, kneeling on the sand and looking at the hood's interior, but I could barely see her face.
"Give me one good reason to get on that train again."
