Screeching on its tracks, the train came to a complete stop inside of what seemed to be a very big rock with many openings on its walls, like Swiss cheese. But even though we were inside a huge rock, there was no shortage of light due to the big skylight above. Its light formed a circle that seemed to encompass the whole train and surroundings. If I hadn't known better I could've sworn it wasn't a natural occurrence.
The platform, or what passed for a platform, as it seemed it was merely a rock formation with a smooth top, was once again on my side of the train, and I could see perhaps a dozen hooded and cloaked figures.
Some were black, brown, even gray, and all of them seemed to be of the equal height. They were separated into three groups whose conversations were audible even from inside the train, though I couldn't understand a
single word they said. It sounded like some indigenous language from a remote African location.
Most of their voices were deep and they looked rather skinny. Those were all the physical traits I could acknowledge, since their clothing concealed their entire bodies.
Aside from their different colours, I noticed no two hoods were alike. Tiny unique patterns were sown into the fabric, along the face edges of the hood, others around the neck, some had the entire hood embroidered, while others only had a handful, throughout the back. Their colours varied almost as much as the patterns
themselves, pink, blue, black, silver, white... but each colour seemed to be restricted to a single user since all patterns in one had were of the same colour, and no two figures had a pattern the same colour as the other.
The group that was closest to the front of the train motioned to board the front car, but quickly backed away and rejoined the others.
"Smart move. They must have some idea of what those women really are."
One of them, white cloak and green patterns, the only colour that glistened, walked through the groups as to warn them of what awaited them in the first car.
Or at least that's what I assumed since they slowly started moving towards my car and the one behind mine.
